For that fortnight, Cannes simultaneously hosts accredited professionals, film crews, journalists, technical suppliers and a public drawn by the atmosphere. Parts of the centre are closed to traffic, the Croisette is saturated, and accommodation becomes the first logistical difficulty of the trip.
A very particular rhythm
The Festival imposes unusual days: morning screenings, market meetings during the day, official screenings in the evening, events that end in the middle of the night. You get back late and leave early.
In those conditions, somewhere quiet and slightly removed becomes an advantage rather than a drawback. The Villa Francia residence is a 5-hectare landscaped estate: come evening, you find silence there — which is not the case for addresses in the middle of the centre during the fortnight.

Be warned, though: during the fortnight Cannes traffic is heavily disrupted, some roads are closed and that journey time can be considerably exceeded.
